ARROYO Interview: RAUL DURAND

RAUL DURAND: "A director should make me salivate"

One of the most complete players in the middle is, without doubt, Raul Durand, who is carrying out a discreet but prolific work as a performer in numerous plays. A recent stagings made was awarded Lock Out, winner of X Peruvian North Theatre Festival and the award for Best Play of 2010 for Critical The Office, written by César Vallejo and directed by Carlos The Rosa. "I had very good teachers of theater," says Raul . "Rocío Antero, Augusto Casafranca, Willy Pinto, especially Lucho Ramirez, Carlos Riboti in two assembly workshops I did with it: Tragic Incas, in which I played Huascar, and Hell, based on The Divine Comedy, both physical assemblies with interesting proposals. " While not a director, it has led workshops and samples for various NGOs work on behalf of amateur actors. Raul

only puts a condition to contribute their talent to a project: "A director has to make me salivate, says without hesitation. "You have to motivate me, should you want to pay to come to trial, he is hungry to work." And for him, a director motivated them, things should be clear and answer any questions submitted to it, otherwise, you lose faith in the project and no risk at all in the project. "There were cases in which the initial proposal was very good but the director does not motivate me, I try to avoid being in those works.

His work on stage

Among the works in which Raúl participated and remember most fondly is contained, in addition to Riboti work, the staging of Hey forever with the group Cuatrotablas . "The assembly did not like at all, but all that generated with the public" he recalls. He claims to have received many positive comments from viewers, and have felt a greater significance in its influence with certain people. "Some viewers told me that thanks to the work they loved to Peru, and others felt that the theater now much more liked," recalls proud.

"And of course, I loved doing Wolf, what are you doing? (family play written and directed by Patricia Denegri) ", through which Raúl won the award for Best Actor 2010 for The Office Critical . "children's theater managers assume that there must be more movement on stage to call the child's intention." For Raul, it was a good opportunity to be physically deployed in the hilarious role of a fleeing feared Wolf Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother, suggesting the movement in space with other actors, always under the management agreement. "I consider myself an actor more resources in children's books," says .

At the moment, Raul is devoting to the tests of the imminent revival of Lock Out in the auditorium of the Alliance Française in the summer, as well as the dictates of a Creativity Workshop to a group of teachers from a nest. "Also I have pending a work in which he would play for Don Quixote, but we are still in talks" , he says. "I have enough flexibility in my time to devote to more projects, I can only wait." And of course, we want to be able to find proposals that pique your interest so you can see this performer more often in the tables. Sergio Velarde
